Giannis Antetokounmpo Talks NBA All-Star Game, EuroLeague, and National Team Future

Giannis Antetokounmpo recently spoke to US and international media about the recent NBA All-Star Game and the potential of fixing it. However, he also shared his thoughts on being traded, the EuroLeague, and Greece’s national team future.

During a long interview with COSMOTE TV, Giannis joked about being potentially traded to Detroit, saying “At least Luka went from Dallas to LA, why you are sending me to Detroit.” On a more serious note, he stated that if he were to get traded, he would inform his family and continue doing his job.

When asked if he would text his general manager (GM) asking for a trade, Giannis replied that he doesn’t think so, saying “I’m not this kind of guy. They would have to kick me out.” He reiterated his commitment to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Giannis also confirmed his participation in Eurobasket 2025 and expressed confidence in winning a medal with Greece. He attributed his team’s success to coach Vasilis Spanoulis, who pushed him to improve and get out of his comfort zone.

The NBA Europe project was another topic discussed by Giannis. He stated that the EuroLeague teams having a contract with their competition would be beneficial for the NBA, allowing other teams to expand and potentially build new arenas.

Lastly, Giannis talked about being the flagbearer for Greece at the Paris Olympics and how he managed to see his mother during the ceremony. He joked about the low probability of this happening, saying “0.000001% maybe?”
