Investors and tech moguls are building massive statues across the West Coast, with plans for a 450-foot Prometheus statue on Alcatraz island and a 650-foot George Washington monument. Ross Calvin, an investor, wants to build his own giant Statue of Liberty, but instead will feature the Greek god Prometheus as the centerpiece. The towering Prometheus statue would surpass Lady Liberty’s iconic height and symbolize “fundamental dynamism” that defines the US West Coast, despite its mythological warnings about hubris.
