NFL Draft analysts are predicting that Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders will be the top quarterbacks in the 2025 draft class. However, the New York Giants, who have a quarterback-needy roster, may not have a chance to select either of these players.
Draft analyst Todd McShay has released his second mock draft for the Giants’ situation, providing an opportunity for GM Joe Schoen to address his quarterback needs. In this mock draft, McShay gives Ward to the Tennessee Titans with the first pick and Sanders to the Cleveland Browns at No. 2.
This leaves the Giants with a decision on Round 1 (No. 3), where they select Travis Hunter, WR/CB from Colorado. McShay favors pass rushers over skill-position players, but he thinks the Giants could benefit from Hunter’s skills on both sides of the ball.
The Giants would need to find a quarterback in the draft, which McShay believes can be done with either Jaxson Dart or Russell Wilson. If the Giants make this move, they will have Travis Hunter and Dart as long-term building blocks for their offense.
While some may argue that taking Sanders at No. 3 is the better option, McShay thinks that getting Dart, along with Hunter, would be a more attractive outcome for the team. With an existing relationship between the Giants and Eli Manning’s family, McShay believes that Dart could have a built-in support system.
Ultimately, whether or not the Giants can get Dart at No. 19 is a matter of chance. However, in McShay’s mock draft, he believes that this outcome would be worth the risk.
