New York Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart made a sweet moment with his biggest supporter, mom Kara, in his NFL debut on Saturday. Dart, who was picked 25th overall in the draft, went 12 of 19 for 159 yards and a touchdown in the Giants’ 34-25 win over the Bills.
The Ole Miss product looked poised under pressure, connecting with wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey for a 29-yard touchdown pass to grab an early 10-0 lead. Dart’s day was cut short by the start of the second half, with veteran backup Jameis Winston taking over in the third and DeVito in the fourth.
Coach Brian Daboll said post-game that there were both positive and areas for improvement. “There’s some good stuff and there’s a lot of things that we need to correct,” he said.
The Giants will have a week to iron out their issues before facing the Jets in their second preseason game on Saturday. With his family by his side, Dart made an unforgettable debut, one that will likely be remembered for a long time.
