The New York Giants tried to move up from No. 25 to secure a quarterback, but ultimately ended up drafting Ole Miss signal-caller Jaxson Dart.
Despite attempting to trade with the Tennessee Titans, who were targeting Miami University quarterback Cam Ward, the Giants stayed put and acquired Carter at No. 1 overall, according to GM Joe Schoen. However, they later traded away their first-round pick in 2026 to move up to No. 25, securing Dart.
“We traded up for him,” Schoen said of Dart. “He’s got a lot of makings of a good quarterback and there’s a long way to go.” The Giants signed Russell Wilson in free agency earlier this month, but it appears they are still developing their quarterback depth.
Despite missing out on the top pick, the Giants expressed satisfaction with the draft outcome. With Dart now on board, they will aim to build upon their success under Wilson and tackle the challenges of developing a young quarterback.
