The GIMP development team has made its highly anticipated GIMP 3.0 release candidate available for testing. The update boasts a revamped interface, improved color management, and support for advanced image formats.
GIMP 3.0 introduces non-destructive editing capabilities, allowing users to make changes without altering the original image. A new “Merge Filters” checkbox enables instant merging of filters, while layer groups now have non-destructive filters. The update also includes improved UI features, such as mouse scroll wheel support and updated GEGL components.
Other notable changes include new plugins, enhanced legacy icon theme compatibility for HiDPI screens, and the ability to export images with customizable settings without modifying the original file.
