Global Tourism Returns to Pre-Pandemic Levels in 2024, Airlines and Airports Rank for Punctuality

The United Nations has confirmed that global tourism has rebounded to pre-pandemic levels in 2024. Meanwhile, an aviation analytics firm named Cirium has released its annual ranking of the airlines and airports with the best on-time records.

According to Cirium’s data, the top three most punctual airlines are Aeromexico, Saudia, and Delta Air Lines. The ranking is based on flights that arrive or depart within 14:59 minutes of their scheduled arrival time.

Regional recognition shows Japan Air Lines taking the gold for promptness in the Asia-Pacific region, followed by All Nippon Airways. Singapore Airlines ranks third in this region. For the MENA region, Safair takes the top spot, followed by Oman Air and Royal Jordanian.

In Europe, Iberia lands second place overall, while its low-cost subsidiary Iberia Express tops the list for medium-sized airports. In North America, Delta takes first place, followed by United and Alaska.

Airport rankings also reveal that Riyadh King Khalid International Airport took top honors in the large airport category as well as the overall title. Panama Tocumen International Airport ranks third in the medium-size category, while Guayaquil Jose Joaquin de Olmedo Intl Airport tops the small airport list.

However, it’s essential to note that weather and climate change can impact on-time performance. While these rankings are impressive, it’s crucial to consider the broader context of aviation delays.
