GMA Moves Downtown Amid Strategic Relocation

Good Morning America has bid farewell to its iconic Times Square studio in New York City, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the popular morning show. The six-time Emmy Award-winning program will soon move to Disney’s new NYC headquarters, known as the Robert A. Iger building at 7 Hudson Square in downtown Manhattan.

The 200,000-square-foot complex features three large studios and serves as a collaborative hub for Disney’s media, production, and innovation teams. “This state-of-the-art building is designed to be a collaborative town square,” said Disney in a December 2024 news release.

“Good Morning America” has been based at the Times Square studio since September 13, 1999, with co-anchors Robin Roberts, Ginger Zee, Lara Spencer, George Stephanopoulos, and Michael Strahan taking turns hosting the show. The program’s move is part of a larger strategic relocation for ABC News teams.

The new studio will allow for more collaboration and innovation among the network’s teams, according to an ABC spokesperson. “Good Morning America” is defined by the strength of its team, quality of reporting, and long relationships with viewers. The show’s new home provides the perfect environment for these aspects to thrive.

GMA’s first broadcast from the new studio is scheduled for June 16, marking a fresh start for the program. As co-anchors Roberts and Spencer reflect on their time at the Times Square studio, it’s clear they will miss it dearly. The show’s move serves as an exciting chapter in its rich history, with a bright future ahead.
