GM’s Silverado EV Beats Lucid Air Record with 1,059.2-Mile Range

General Motors’ 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV Work Truck has achieved a new world record in electric vehicle range, exceeding the previous leader by over 300 miles. The vehicle traveled an astonishing 1,059.2 miles on a single charge, shattering its EPA-estimated range of 493 miles.

The achievement comes after GM engineers optimized the truck for efficiency without making significant modifications to the hardware or software. Their tweaks included lowering windshield wiper blade position to reduce drag, inflating tires to their highest pressure, removing the spare tire to reduce weight, and optimizing wheel alignment. They also turned off climate control and performed testing in summer conditions.

A team of 40 engineers drove a production model Silverado EV Work Truck on public roads for seven days, limiting speed to 20-25 mph to optimize range. The result was an industry milestone that solidifies GM’s Silverado EV as a flagship model in its all-electric lineup.
