Goldie Hawn, 79, presented awards at the Academy Awards alongside actor Andrew Garfield. During the ceremony, Hawn jokingly claimed she was “completely blind” due to cataracts. However, a representative for Hawn has clarified that her vision is intact.
On Monday, a CNN spokesperson confirmed that Hawn’s claim of blindness was a joke and not a reflection of any actual vision problems. Cataracts are a common condition that can cause blindness if left untreated, but they can be treated with surgery.
Earlier in the ceremony, Garfield praised Hawn for bringing joy to his late mother, Linda, who passed away in 2019. He expressed gratitude towards Hawn and acknowledged her impact on his life.
It’s worth noting that Garfield had previously discussed his experiences with grief in an interview with Anderson Cooper, stating that fully embracing his emotions allows him to feel closer to his mother again.
