World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler will be sidelined for three to four weeks after suffering a puncture wound from a broken glass while preparing dinner on Christmas Day. The PGA Tour announced the news on Friday.
Scheffler, who is also the reigning PGA Tour Player of the Year, was forced to withdraw from the 2025 season opener, The Sentry, which takes place in Kapalua, Hawaii, from January 2-5. However, he hopes to return to action at The American Express in La Quinta, California, on January 16-19.
Scheffler’s manager stated that small glass fragments required surgery, and the golfer is expected to make a full recovery in three to four weeks. Despite this setback, Scheffler has had an incredible season so far, winning seven times on tour and capturing various prestigious titles including the Masters and Paris Olympics medals.
The 28-year-old Scheffler was also awarded the Jack Nicklaus Award as PGA Tour Player of the Year for three consecutive seasons, a feat last achieved by Tiger Woods in 2005-2007.
