Google Adds Camera to NotebookLM App for Image Sources

Google has introduced a new camera feature in its NotebookLM app, allowing users to quickly upload images and use them as sources alongside text, audio, videos, websites, and files like PDFs.

The update is available on both Android and iOS devices. The camera feature can be accessed by opening the homepage or Sources tab and tapping the FAB (floating action button). This opens your device’s camera UI to take handwritten notes, whiteboards, printed handouts, infographics, and more.

Additionally, users can browse their local photo library using the “Add a source” option, which now features an Image button. The feature was initially rolled out on the web in mid-November but is now widely available.

Other notable updates include the availability of flashcards, quizzes, and unselecting sources in the Chat tab. However, shared chat history across sessions still remains unavailable on Android and iOS.

Google has also brought back free features for Infographics and Slides, as well as improved chat functionality with saved history and a larger context window.
