Google Cracks Down on Excessive API Requests

Google has implemented a new policy to limit excessive API requests from developers. The new measure, which went into effect in November 2022, aims to prevent abuse of the company’s Application Programming Interface (API).

According to the policy, developers who exceed the allowed number of requests (429 Too Many Requests) will need to wait 50 milliseconds before making their next request. This pause is intended to give the developer time to review and adjust their code.

The change is designed to prevent malicious actors from overwhelming Google’s systems with excessive traffic, which can compromise performance and security. Developers who exceed the allowed number of requests will receive an error message indicating the need for a 50-millisecond delay before retrying their request.
