Google has introduced a new AI-powered tool in Google Drive that allows Workspace users to summarize and interact with video content using Gemini, its generative AI assistant. This feature enables users to quickly review videos without watching every minute by clicking the ‘Ask Gemini’ button.
The tool leverages Gemini 2.5 Pro’s strong video analysis capabilities, which recently scored high on the VideoMME benchmark. Users can now access this feature across various Workspace plans, including Business Standard and Enterprise tiers.
To use the feature, users must enable captions in their Workspace account and issue natural language prompts such as ‘Summarise this video’ or ‘List key points from this meeting’. The tool is available through Drive’s overlay preview or a new browser tab.
With this feature, users can save time by letting Gemini handle video analysis. However, the feature currently only supports English and requires captions to be enabled in the Workspace admin account.
