Google Employees Demand End to Cloud Services for Immigration Agencies

Google employees have delivered a petition to management, condemning the Trump administration’s use of Google technology in immigration enforcement. The petition, signed by over 800 employees, calls on the company to stop doing business with federal immigration agencies and be transparent about its role in supporting these agencies. Employees claim that they were “appalled by the violence” and “paramilitary-style raids” by immigration agents, which they accuse Google of aiding. They also want safety measures to protect employees after a reported attempt by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to enter the company’s campus. The petition echoes previous employee activism at Google, highlighting concerns over sexual harassment, artificial intelligence, and government contracts.
