Google has updated its Gemini app on iPhone with lockscreen widgets and direct access in Control Center. The new features include six circular lockscreen widgets that allow users to type prompts, talk live, open the mic, use the camera, share images, or share files.
The shortcuts can be set to appear as corner buttons on the lockscreen and in the Control Center for quick access. This feature was initially missing from competing apps. The update also includes a new shortcut that opens Gemini Live directly without the need for a two-step process.
Other notable updates include support for sharing text, images, and links directly to Gemini from any app, as well as deep research and UI improvements. A “Saved info” feature is now available in the Advanced mode, which was previously free but has become paid.
The update, version 1.2025.0762303, is rolling out via the App Store.
