Google Gemini Now Accessible from iPhone Lock Screen

Google has made a significant update to its Gemini chatbot app, allowing users to access it directly from their iPhone’s lock screen. This new feature, called Gemini Live, lets users call up the live voice assistant before unlocking their phone by adding a widget to their lock screen.

This development comes as Apple faces delays in releasing an AI-enabled Siri for iOS devices, and Google is stepping in to provide its own AI assistants to iPhone users. Similar features are available on ChatGPT’s iOS app, which allows users to access OpenAI’s Advanced Voice Mode from the lock screen.

The updated Gemini app also includes other useful widgets, such as a camera upload feature, reminder settings, and direct text chat capabilities with Gemini. Meanwhile, Google has announced plans to expand Gemini’s features for Android users later this month. Subscribers to the $20-a-month Gemini Advanced plan will be able to ask AI-powered questions about video content in real-time.
