Google Introduces AI-Driven Search Interface

Google is set to roll out an enhanced AI-driven search interface, which will make its Gemini agent more accessible to users. The “AI Mode” feature, currently shown at the top left of the search results page and inside the Google app, will provide a user-friendly interface similar to the Gemini AI chat.

The development tracks with recent reports and app teardowns that revealed a dedicated “AI mode” button in the Google app’s early beta version. This shortcut has also appeared on the Android search widget and features a conversation history button.

Google promotes its Gemini agent with various tools, including links below its search homepage and an “AI Overview” in search results. Users can opt out of AI-driven answers by using URL parameters or visiting specific tabs. The company has been testing file attachment for web searches and has integrated Gemini into other Google products like Pixel phones, Gmail, and Drive/Workspace.
