Google has simplified file sharing for Android users worldwide by introducing a new QR code-based feature in Quick Share. The update is now available globally, starting from the latest version of Google Play Services (24.49.33). This feature enables users to share files using QR codes, making it easier and more convenient.
To use this feature, users simply need to tap on the Quick Share option, select “Use QR code,” and a unique QR code will appear on their screen. Nearby devices can then scan this QR code using their camera app, allowing them to receive the file transfer automatically. No additional steps are required, such as adding contacts or verifying devices.
This feature is especially helpful for group activities, like sharing photos from an event or sending documents to colleagues. It also resolves issues with Quick Share detecting nearby devices, making it a significant enhancement to Android’s usability.
The QR code-based sharing feature is part of Google’s December 2024 Feature Bundle, aimed at improving Android’s ease of use. According to Google, this feature contributes to making Android more accessible and flexible for both regular users and IT professionals.
