Google Keep Gains Floating Action Button for Cleaner Interface

Google Keep has received a new update with a floating action button (FAB) that streamlines the user experience and adds consistency across its productivity apps. The change is part of a server-side update in Keep version 5.24.432.

The FAB replaces the traditional bottom bar, allowing users to extend their notes all the way to the bottom of the screen. While this change declutters the interface, it also eliminates some functionality, including the option to create audio recordings or lists with just one tap. Users who miss these features can rely on Keep’s homescreen widget for now.

The new FAB design incorporates Material You principles, featuring pill-shaped buttons and a color scheme that matches your device’s theme. However, eagle-eyed users may notice that the expanded FAB does not offer an audio recording button, possibly due to the availability of better alternatives like Pixel Recorder.

In other news, Google Keep is testing a new feature – a handwritten mode with backgrounds. This upgrade could further enhance the note-taking experience in the app. With this update, Google Keep continues its efforts to streamline user interfaces and promote consistency across its productivity apps, including Calendar and Drive.
