Google Photos Gets New Design with Auto Light Mode and Streamlined Actions

Google has quietly announced a significant redesign for its photo viewing experience in Google Photos, starting with the iOS app. The update aims to improve usability, navigation, and discoverability of photos. Here’s what you can expect from the new design:

The new update includes several key features, including:

* Auto light or dark mode matching, ensuring your photos automatically adjust to your device’s preferred color scheme.
* Improved actions menu with a three-dot dropdown, offering faster access to key functions like “About”, “Google Lens”, and “Create”.
* Enhanced date, time, and location details displayed at the top of each photo, making it easier to identify when and where a photo was taken.

Additional features include:

* New badges near photos indicating actions like playing or pausing live or motion photos.
* Controls for managing photo stacks, bursts, and storage preferences.
* Streamlined navigation with an “Add to” button in the bottom bar for easy access to various actions on individual photos.

While these changes are rolling out to iOS users first, Google has assured that they will also arrive on Android devices “soon”.
