Google Photos Overhauls Editor with AI Features

Google is celebrating 10 years of Google Photos by introducing a revamped editor that brings its AI-powered tools to all users. The redesigned editor now features two new AI-driven capabilities: Reimagine and Auto Frame.

Reimagine uses generative AI to transform objects and backgrounds in photos, allowing users to replace gloomy skies with clear blue ones or remove unwanted elements. Auto Frame suggests different ways to frame a photo, including cropping, widening, or filling blank spaces using AI.

The new editor aims to provide helpful suggestions and put all editing tools in one place. Users can now combine multiple effects for quick edits or tap specific areas of a photo to access suggested tools.

Google plans to roll out the updated editor globally on Android devices next month, with iOS releases expected later this year. The service also introduced album sharing via QR codes, allowing users to easily share albums with others and view them using unique codes that can be printed for events.
