Google Photos Rolls Out 2024 Recap Feature

Google Photos is launching its 2024 Recap feature in two parts. The first part, called “Recap memory,” provides a brief overview of the year’s photos and videos with fun graphics and animations, accompanied by background music.

The US version of Google Photos also includes personalized captions from Gemini, which highlight the two biggest moments of the year, such as trips or weddings. To enable this feature, go to Settings > Preferences > Gemini features.

The 2024 Recap will offer insights into the user’s photos, including:

– Year in smiles: The number of smiles captured and who smiled the most.
– Year in color: The most frequently snapped colors of the year.
– Top faces: The four people who appear most in images.
– Longest streak: A list of consecutive days with uploaded photos.

These insights can be saved to the Google Photos library or shared with others. Users will receive a notification when the feature is available, and can also check the top carousel for updates.
