Google Photos has simplified its bottom bar on Android by removing the “Memories” tab, except for a new feature called “Moments”. The auto-organizing feed now resides in the Collections tab. Other navigation elements, such as “Create new”, “Updates”, and “Ask”, are located at the top bar.
The change aims to improve the app’s cleanliness and symmetry with other Google apps like Google Maps. However, functionality remains unchanged, and users can still access their best moments through the revamped feed. The redesign is rolling out as a server-side update with version 7.11 and will be available soon.
Google Photos now features three tabs: Photos, Collections, and Search (or “Ask”). The Gemini-powered feature provides more ways for users to interact with their photos. Despite this change, Google still prioritizes user experience over aesthetics, ensuring that the app remains clean and intuitive.
