The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is reportedly going to be the first foldable phone to receive an IP68 rating, offering dust and water protection that surpasses its competitors. If confirmed, this would be a significant upgrade over the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, which only boasts an IP48 rating.
An IP68 rating means the phone can survive for 30 minutes in water at a depth of 1.5 meters, making it highly resistant to dust and moisture. This is a significant improvement over previous foldable phones like the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, which has an IPX8 rating that only provides high-level waterproofing.
The rumor suggests that Google has successfully achieved this feat, making it one of the major selling points of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. The phone’s storage will also be upgraded from UFS 3.1 to UFS 4.0, which should result in a speed increase and make the device feel snappier.
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is set to launch on August 20, alongside other handsets in the series. A livestream is expected to be provided by Google during the event, allowing viewers to watch along from anywhere in the world.
