Google Pixel Regains Fourth Place in US Smartphone Market

Google Pixel has regained its fourth-place spot in the US smartphone market ahead of the Pixel 10 launch, with growth slowing down slightly. According to Canalys’ Q2 2025 report, Google shipped around 800,000 units, a 13% year-over-year increase from Q2 2024. This marks a decline from previous quarters, but still a significant achievement for the brand.

The company’s market share now stands at 3%, with Motorola holding a 12% lead in the fourth position. Apple remains at the top with 49% of the market, followed by Samsung with 31%. Google’s growth is notable, especially considering it was estimated to make up shy of 5% of the US market in 2023.

However, for new brands to succeed in the US market, significant scale is required. The top three vendors currently dominate over 90% of shipments, leaving limited opportunities for smaller players. OnePlus and Nothing are attempting non-carrier-focused strategies but face challenges due to their current scale limitations.

The Pixel 10 series launch in August is expected to boost Google’s numbers, but its long-term impact remains uncertain. To improve the market’s attractiveness, reducing large investments required for store portfolios or finding new incentives could help smaller vendors thrive.
