Google Pixel Update Set for March, Brings Scam Detection Features

Google’s latest Pixel update is set to release next month, bringing a long-awaited scam detection and protection feature to users’ phones. The update, initially confirmed for a March release, may finally be available as early as the end of February.

The new feature uses real-time phone call monitoring to spot signs of fraud by identifying common conversation patterns associated with scams. Additionally, Google’s restriction on app sideloads while on calls will help prevent malicious downloads during calls.

However, Samsung Galaxy owners still await their first Android 15 update, which has been delayed further. This situation creates a significant gap between Pixel and non-Pixel users, leaving many wondering how Android 16 will address this issue.

Recent call scams have made headlines, with scammers posing as loan representatives to steal personal information. The Better Business Bureau received over 500 reports of such scams between November and January, with cases becoming increasingly aggressive as the campaigns progress.

Google’s new scam detection feature is designed to catch these types of calls and protect users’ identities. With the latest Pixel update on the horizon, users can look forward to improved phone security.
