Google has increased prices for its Nest Aware subscription plans for home security cameras. Starting immediately, new subscribers will pay $10 a month for the basic plan, up from $8, while the premium plan will now cost $20 a month, up from $15. The annual plans also see a price hike, with Nest Aware costing $100 per year and Nest Aware Plus costing $200 per year.
The changes apply to new subscribers, while current users will be hit with the increased prices on their first bill after August 15 or when their promotional period ends. Google claims it remains committed to helping customers get the most out of their devices and plans to continue adding features and innovations.
Nest Aware offers cloud storage, e911 service, and intelligent alerts for familiar faces, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, and breaking glass. The premium plan adds 10 days of 24/7 video history. Without a subscription, users can still view live feeds and receive notifications but will not be able to play back recorded videos.
The price increases come as Google’s Nest Aware Plus plans see a steeper 33% increase in monthly costs, while the basic Nest Aware plan sees a 25% hike.
