Google Removes Gemini from Main App for iOS Devices

Google has announced that its AI assistant Gemini is no longer available within the main Google app on iOS devices. To encourage users to download the standalone Gemini app, which was launched last year, the company is pushing them to migrate to the new app instead.

The change means users will need to access Gemini through the App Store to continue using it. The standalone app offers a wider range of features, including voice conversations, connecting Google apps, and AI summaries. Users can interact with Gemini via text, voice, or by using their camera.

Google is also offering an in-app purchase for the paid subscription that provides access to Gemini Advanced. However, some experts question whether this move will increase user adoption, as users may not be motivated enough to download new apps. The company’s risk in pushing users to switch may lead to a decrease in Gemini usage as some users choose not to make the change.
