Google Reverts Android Auto Maps Change to Fix Annoying Display Issue

Google has rolled back its recent change in Google Maps for Android Auto, reverting the feature that centered the app’s UI on smaller vehicle displays. The tweak, which was introduced earlier this year, caused frustration among users and was met with widespread complaints. However, it appears that Google is now revisiting the change to make the interface look nicer again.

The issue, which only affected drivers not using turn-by-turn navigation, caused the app’s UI to be centered on the display rather than the user’s location. On smaller displays, this made for an annoying experience. In a server-side tweak, Google has adjusted the driver’s location to match the UI instead of the display.

The change is now visible in the screenshots shared by users and appears to be rolling out to all Android Auto users. It’s worth noting that not everyone has received the update yet, but it seems that Google is working on getting the change live for all users.
