Google Rolls Out Auto-Open App Feature on Play Store

Google is introducing a new feature on the Play Store that allows users to auto-open newly downloaded apps as soon as they’re installed. The “auto-open when ready” toggle, now visible in the install progress bar, will open applications automatically after a 5-second countdown.

The feature, which is not enabled by default, aims to make it quicker and easier to launch new apps. It’s particularly useful in emergency situations where users want to access an app as soon as possible, such as with restaurant or travel apps.

According to reports, the functionality has rolled out on select devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7, but a different UI for the toggle is seen on some devices like the Pixel 9 Pro XL.
