Google has finally rolled out the long-awaited upgrades for its Gemini Live AI-powered chatbot. Introduced in August, these features are now available to users, addressing concerns about speed and enabling more immersive storytelling.
Gemini Live now allows users to control conversation pace by saying “speed up” or “slow down.” This feature is marked as an accessibility option but can be beneficial for anyone who found the AI too slow-paced. It also enables users to build confidence in learning a new language through conversational practice, quizzing on topics like Spanish greetings and Korean math.
The chatbot’s storytelling capabilities have been enhanced with a “tell me a story” feature. Users can ask Gemini to narrate a historical event from a character’s perspective, such as Julius Caesar, for a engaging narrative complete with accents.
Gemini Live also introduces “fun” accents, including Western cowboy and Cockney British. With these updates, users can now personalize their conversations by choosing the desired voice. However, some features like Gemini integration with Nest speakers are still pending, awaiting device availability.
