Google Ships Android 16 Beta 2 for Pixel Devices

Google has released the second beta version of its upcoming Android 16 operating system for Pixel devices. This update brings features like hybrid auto exposure with precise color temperature and tint adjustments, as well as improved camera capabilities. The new beta is available on Pixel 6 to Pixel 9 series, foldables, and the Pixel Tablet.

Developer changes revealed by Google include support for professional camera users, health and fitness permissions that become more granular, a new API for live wallpapers, and a standardized picture and audio quality framework for TVs. The update also features improved UltraHDR capabilities and HEIC encoding support.

Users can download Android 16 Beta 2 on their Pixel devices through the Google Play Services app or by signing up for the Android Beta Program. Existing users of Android 16 Developer Preview or Beta builds will receive the update over-the-air, while others can manually flash a factory image or OTA file to get updated faster.

The update’s release date is February 13, 2025, and it features build BP22.250124.009 with x86 (64-bit) emulator support and security patch level February 2025.
