Google has made changes to its Android Find My Device tracker setup process, aiming to encourage more users to take advantage of the feature. The company is removing complex enrollment screens and replacing them with simpler explainers that will help average users understand the benefits of advanced Bluetooth tracking.
The updated system now integrates signup into the initial device setup process, allowing users to make informed decisions about their tracking settings from the start. This change aims to reduce confusion and increase adoption of the feature, which is currently limited by the need for users to manually navigate to the Find Hub app and select their preferred settings.
Prior to this update, many users were unaware of the different options available for Bluetooth tracking, leading to inconsistent performance. The updated system now offers a more straightforward choice between two main settings: “in all areas” and “in busy places only”. This change is expected to increase the number of users enabling the more powerful “in all areas” option.
Additionally, Google will now prompt users to enable or disable Bluetooth tracking as part of the device setup process. This mandatory step ensures that users take ownership of their tracking settings and are more likely to engage with the feature. Overall, these changes aim to simplify the Find My Device tracker experience and encourage more users to adopt this advanced technology.
