Google Simplifies PDF Navigation with AI Feature

Google’s latest update to its Files by Google app brings a new feature called “Ask about this PDF” that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to summarize lengthy documents. The feature, which is currently rolling out, allows users to easily scan and understand complex PDF files by sending the document data to Gemini, an AI-powered tool.

The feature can be accessed by tapping on a button labeled “Ask about this PDF” at the bottom of the app when a PDF is opened. This will provide a quick summary of the document’s content without requiring users to manually read through it. The feature is designed to preserve user privacy and only requests permission to access the document.

Users can also opt out of using Gemini if they prefer an alternative AI-powered service or manual review. Adobe, the inventor of the PDF format, has also released its own AI tool to help with navigating long documents.

With this new feature, users can quickly gain insights into complex PDF files and save time spent on tedious document reviews.
