Google has agreed to pay about $2.4 billion for the license of artificial intelligence-assisted coding tool Windsurf’s technology, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.
The deal comes as Google hires Windsurf CEO Varun Mohan and co-founder Douglas Chen, along with other key team members, to join its DeepMind division. This move is seen as an attempt by Google to strengthen itself in the AI leadership race.
