Google to Roll Out Pixel 4a Update to Improve Battery Stability

Google has announced that it will be rolling out a software update to improve the battery performance of its Pixel 4a smartphone. The update is set to roll out starting January 8, 2025, and aims to enhance the stability of the phone’s battery.

However, this upgrade may also reduce battery life on affected devices. To mitigate this issue, Google will offer a free battery replacement for certain “Impacted Device” Pixel 4a users in select countries, including the US, UK, Canada, Germany, Singapore, and India. This offer is only available until stocks last.

Additionally, Google is providing other options to Pixel 4a owners who may not want to upgrade their battery. These include a one-time $50 payment or a $100 Google Store coupon that can be used against any Pixel phone. However, users must select only one of these options.

Affected Pixel 4a users have until January 8, 2026, to make their decision and determine whether their device is eligible for the upgrade. Users can check if their device is impacted by visiting a registration page provided by Google.
