Google TV’s free channel offering has expanded with 16 new additions, bringing the total to 171 channels available on the platform. The new channels include holiday-themed programming from Xumo, Stingray, and other providers.
The Google TV Freeplay feature allows users to start streaming completely free live channels when they get a new device. Initially launched with around 80 channels, the service has been rapidly expanding its library.
To celebrate the holidays, many of these new channels are right on time. Among them are “Places & Spaces – The Great Christmas Light Fight,” “Best of Dr Phil,” and Xumo’s free holiday movie channel and classic films. Stingray music channels have also received temporary updates with festive content.
However, not all news is positive for users. The revamped Freeplay app remains missing on many devices due to a crashing issue, although some devices still receive the update. On the other hand, Google TV has made room by removing the car-focused channel “Motortrend Fast TV” from its collection.
With over 1,100 free channels available across various platforms, including Plex and PlutoTV with additional app downloads, users have access to a wide range of content on Google TV.
