Google Unveils AI-Driven Search Engine Tool with Chatbot Feature

Google is set to unveil its AI-driven search engine tool, dubbed AI Mode, for the first time, allowing a small percentage of US users to test it outside of an experimental Labs environment. The new feature will provide an AI-generated response based on information within Google’s search index, offering a distinct approach from traditional search platforms.

AI Mode will be accessible under its own dedicated tab in Search, located next to other sections like Images, Videos, and Shopping. This move aims to compete with large language model-based search engines like Perplexity and ChatGPT. The AI Mode update has also included new features, such as saving past searches in a left-side panel and displaying visual cards for products and places.

The feature’s release marks an end to the waitlist for Labs users in the US, allowing more people to try the Search tool before its wider availability. With these enhancements, Google aims to provide more relevant and up-to-date responses through AI-driven search capabilities.
