Google Unveils Gemini 2.0, A Next-Gen Chatbot with Enhanced Features

Google has launched its next-generation chatbot, Gemini 2.0, making it available to everyone through a multipronged initiative. The updated model offers improved coding performance and complex prompts. Here are the highlights of what’s new from Google.

Gemini 2.0 Pro is an experimental version released in Google AI Studio, Vertex AI, and the Gemini app for advanced users. It claims to be the best model yet for coding performance and complex prompts.

A new variant, Gemini 2.0 Flash, is now generally available via the Gemini API in Google AI Studio and Vertex AI. This smaller and more efficient version allows developers to build production applications with ease.

Another cost-effective alternative is Gemini 2.0 Flash-Lite, a less expensive model that’s now available in Google AI Studio and Vertex AI for developers. The company claims it’s its most cost-efficient model yet.

For advanced users, there’s also the Gemini 2.0 Pro Experimental version available in the Gemini app, as well as Google AI Studio and Vertex AI. This version offers a new “Flash Thinking” experimental feature that breaks down user prompts into steps to provide better responses to complex prompts.

Gemini 2.0 Flash-Lite can interact with Google apps like Maps, YouTube, and Search. The new model is designed to work seamlessly with these connected apps.

This launch comes as part of Google’s ongoing AI announcements, including the Samsung Galaxy S25 series with Project Astra and its Daily Listen feature. As the competition from Chinese AI startup DeepSeek heats up, Google’s Gemini 2.0 aims to provide a powerful alternative at an affordable price.
