Google Unveils Gemini 2.5 Pro for Free Users

Google has released its latest voice model, Gemini 2.5 Pro, for free users, bringing advanced reasoning capabilities and coding abilities to those who use the platform. This new model is part of an ‘experimental’ phase, but it can already be selected from the drop-down menu on the Gemini website.

Gemini 2.5 Pro is a reasoning model that mimics human-like reasoning abilities to achieve better performance and accuracy in tasks related to coding, math, science, and more. According to Google, this model excels in benchmarks such as Humanity’s Last Exam and LMArena.

What sets Gemini 2.5 Pro apart is its massive context window of 1 million tokens, allowing the chatbot to process a large amount of text at once. This feature gives it an edge over other models like OpenAI’s o3 Mini and Claude’s latest 3.7 Sonnet model.

Google aims to build these capabilities directly into all its models to handle complex problems and support context-aware agents. The company is also shifting focus from pre-trained models to reasoning models, similar to those used in deep search.

As the AI race continues, major tech companies like Google, Microsoft, Meta, and others are racing to develop their own AI offerings. While US-based AI companies were once thought to be ahead, China’s DeepSeek has challenged this status with its affordable and competitive models, including the recent launch of DeepSeek R1 and V3.

With Gemini 2.5 Pro, Google is making a move to reclaim its position in the AI market, focusing on reasoning capabilities and coding abilities that were previously lacking.
