Google has confirmed that its next-generation Pixel phones will launch in August, with a Made by Google event scheduled for New York on the 20th of the month. The lineup is expected to include the Pixel 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL, and 10 Pro Fold, each featuring triple cameras.
One of the most notable features of the Pixel 10 series is its camera system, which will include a telephoto lens for the first time on the base model. However, Android Authority reports that Google has downgraded the Pixel 10’s main and ultrawide cameras to smaller sensors compared to previous models, resulting in reduced light sensitivity.
In contrast, the Pro models are expected to retain their high-quality camera systems, while the 10 Pro Fold will offer similar specs as its counterparts. The phones’ colors have also been leaked, with the base model coming in Obsidian black, Indigo blue, Frost pale green, and Limoncello bright green.
Google is also rumored to be adopting Qi2 25W wireless charging, which has not been supported on previous Pixel models. The company’s new handsets are expected to feature bigger batteries and increased weight due to the addition of magnets required for Qi2 support.
Other notable features include a revamped Tensor G5 chip, moving manufacturing from Samsung to TSMC, and significant boosts in processing power. Additionally, Google is developing several new AI imaging features, including “Speak-to-Tweak” and “Sketch-to-Image,” which will be exclusive to the Pixel 10 series.
The phones are also expected to arrive with Android updates featuring a big Material 3 Expressive redesign and a desktop mode based on Samsung’s DeX.
