Google Unveils Virtual Try-On Feature with AI-Powered Clothing Simulation

Google has launched a new virtual try-on feature that allows users to virtually try on clothes, starting today in the United States. The feature uses generative AI technology to let users upload a photo of themselves and see how they would look wearing a particular item.

The new feature is part of Google’s ongoing efforts to enhance its Shopping Graph service. Users can access the virtual try-on feature by tapping on a product listing or apparel product result and selecting the “try it on” icon. They will then be able to upload a full-length photo of themselves and see how they might look wearing the clothing.

Google has been investing in the virtual try-on space for some time, with its experimental app Doppl launching last month. The new feature uses the same generative AI technology as Doppl but is designed for users to curate their personal style.

In addition to the virtual try-on feature, Google is also rolling out updated price alerts. Users can now specify the amount they want to spend on an item and set an alert for a product and preferred size and color.

Google is also teasing an upcoming feature that will let users explore shoppable outfits and room inspiration using generative imagery. This feature is expected to launch this fall, with users able to get style inspiration for products or design ideas for their bedrooms.

The virtual try-on feature is just one part of Google’s ongoing efforts to enhance its shopping experience. With the addition of AI-powered clothing simulation, users can now more easily find and purchase the perfect outfit.
