Google Updates AI Mode for Better Learning Experiences

Google is rolling out several new features to its AI Mode, designed to help students study more effectively. Users will now be able to upload images to AI Mode on desktop, allowing them to ask questions about what they’re seeing. This feature can be used for homework math problems or learning about plants.

In May, Google launched AI Mode in Search in the US, which summarizes web search results and allows users to ask follow-up questions. The company is expanding this feature by adding image upload capabilities. Students can now use PDFs or their phone’s camera to set AI Mode off on a search for answers.

Additionally, Google is testing real-time camera sharing in AI Mode, allowing users to point their camera at an object and ask a question aloud. This feature will be available to mobile users who have opted into the AI Mode Labs experiment.

Other updates include easier access to Lens in Chrome and the ability to upload PDFs directly to AI Mode. Canvas, a workspace for refining writing and generating interactive content, is also being tested on desktop.

These changes aim to make learning more efficient and accessible for students.
