Google’s AI Mode Could Revolutionize Search with Gemini-like Conversations

Google is working on an artificial intelligence (AI) mode that could transform the way users interact with its search engine, making it more conversational and like Gemini, a popular AI assistant. The AI mode, referred to as AIM in leaked code, combines interactive discussions and visual analysis from Google Lens.

When enabled, AI Mode will allow users to respond to search results, ask follow-up questions, interrupt responses, and engage with the search engine in a more human-like way. This feature can be accessed through a new tab in the Google app’s bottom navigation bar.

While AI Mode bears similarities to Gemini Live, it is distinct due to its multimodal experience combining text, voice, and images. This could pave the way for Google Search to become an integral part of Gemini or vice versa. The addition of AI Mode may also change how users interact with the most popular search engine in the world.

Instead of simply searching for results, users might soon be able to ask Google to provide a direct and thoughtful answer. This shift could mark the beginning of a new era in search interactions, where AI-powered tools blur the lines between search engines and AI assistants.
