Google’s Find My Device Network Sees 4x Speed Boost

Google has confirmed that its Find My Device network for Android has seen a significant improvement in speed, with tracking speeds now four times faster than at launch. The improvements are attributed to “continuous algorithm and technical under-the-hood changes,” including adjustments to Bluetooth scanning frequency and duration.

The upgrades also enable the network to work more effectively in “all areas” instead of just high-traffic locations. Google has started showing users an in-app notice about how to change this setting, but it remains the default option. Users are increasingly changing their default privacy settings to give the network more functionality.

While the Find My Device network still lags behind Apple’s in terms of actual tracking performance, Google is making progress in addressing user concerns. The company has announced plans for further improvements, including enhanced UWB support, which will enable better location tracking capabilities.
