Google’s Gemini Chatbot Gains Recall Feature for Personalized Conversations

Google’s Gemini AI chatbot is now capable of recalling and summarizing previous conversations, allowing users to avoid re-sharing information they’ve already discussed. This feature is available for English-speaking subscribers of Google One AI Premium, with plans to expand to additional languages and enterprise accounts in the coming weeks.

The recall feature aims to make Gemini more fluid and personal by retaining key details from past conversations. However, this raises concerns about data privacy, as users will be able to view their chat history. To address these concerns, Google has provided users with options to review, delete, or set retention periods for their conversation records. Users can also disable the recall feature altogether.

This development builds on existing memory features introduced by other AI chatbot providers, such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which allow models to remember user preferences and interactions. While these features don’t retain full chat histories, they demonstrate a growing trend towards more personalized conversational experiences.
