Google’s Phone App to Get More Call Answering Options

Google’s Phone app, currently used by millions of Android users, is getting a significant update. While its 4.5-star rating and one billion installs on the Google Play Store are impressive, some basic features are missing. The good news is that most users are already familiar with new options, so you won’t have to put in extra effort to get used to them.

Currently, the only way to answer or reject calls is by swiping up or down on the call screen. However, Google has been testing two experimental features: a single tap “Answer” and “Decline” button, and a horizontal swipe to answer or decline calls. Users had hoped that one of these would replace the current vertical gesture system.

But, in a surprise move, Google plans to keep all three options: vertical swipe, single tap, and horizontal swipe. This means users will have multiple ways to answer or decline phone calls, which could be a welcome change for some.

While this update is not yet available to the general public, it’s a positive step towards providing more customization options in the Phone app. However, only time will tell if these new features are implemented well and benefit Android users.
