Google has received FDA clearance for its Pixel Watch 3’s Loss of Pulse Detection feature, which aims to alert users in case of a heart attack or overdose. The feature will roll out to US devices by the end of March. When triggered, it sends a prompt to the user and calls emergency services if no response is received.
This capability has been available in the European Union since September 2024, but regulatory clearance was necessary for its deployment in other regions. The FDA clearance marks a significant milestone for this feature, which differentiates between genuine loss-of-pulse events and accidental removal of the watch.
