The cast of the 1985 classic reunited on Monday in Hollywood to celebrate the honor of their friend and co-star Ke Huy Quan. Quan, who played Data in the Richard Donner film, had his hand and footprints immortalized in cement at the TCL Chinese Theater.
Ke Huy Quan was visibly emotional during a ceremony where he revealed that fellow cast members Josh Brolin (Brand), Corey Feldman (Mouth), Jeff Cohen (Chunk), Kerri Green (Andy), and screenwriter Chris Columbus were all in attendance to celebrate his honor.
The actor expressed gratitude for the incredible screenplay written by Chris Columbus, which is widely credited with making “Goonies never say die” a reality. He also praised Josh Brolin’s speech, saying he couldn’t control his emotions after seeing his fellow cast members show up.
When asked if there would be another on-screen appearance together, Quan jokingly said that the answer should have been discussed with Chris Columbus himself, but expressed love for the film and a desire to revisit his character Data in any future project.
The reunion comes ahead of Quan’s upcoming movie Love Hurts, where he will share the screen with Sean Astin (Mikey) and Jeff Cohen (Chunk). The event marked an emotional reunion for Quan, who was moved by seeing his co-stars again. The occasion also highlighted the enduring bond between the cast members.
In a heartfelt speech, Josh Brolin praised Ke Huy Quan’s talent and meteoric rise to stardom, reading out a letter from Steven Spielberg, their shared director from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
